Bruce joined WUSA9 back in July 1995 as a general assignment reporter. He has spent over 10 years working on some of the biggest stories in Washington D.C. Leshan was one of the first reporters who arrived at the scene of the first harrowing day of the serial sniper killings.

He also covered the 2000 elections from Al Gore’s home state, Tennessee. On September 11th, 2001, he delivered the breaking news from a building overlooking the White House when smoke was still coming from the Pentagon billowed over the National Mall.
He covers everything from Breaking news to the latest technological breakthrough or an ongoing murder trial. Bruce won 4 local Emmys where one was for the story of a Southern Maryland prosecutor who was accused of gang rape when he was a teenager.
Back in 1993, he won an Emmy for his story about a paraplegic woman who was raped in a hospital room He received the Hard News Emmy in 1992 for a report on a relief mission from a children’s hospital in the Russian Far East.
Bruce has also received a Spot News Emmy award for his coverage of the near-fatal public housing complex shooting of a Baltimore Police Officer. He then received 4 Chesapeake Associated Press Awards for both spot news and features. He has also received 5 Society of Professional Journalists awards for both breaking news and reporting.
Bruce has a National Association of Black Journalists Award for a story highlighting Mr. Mack, a boxing coach who spent decades training young men in East Baltimore. Before he joined WUSA9, he was a reporter working for WBFF-TV located in Baltimore, Maryland.
Here, he covered politics, City Hall, the environment and special projects. He has also worked for WTOL-TV located in Toledo, Ohio as from 1988-1991. As from 1984-1988, he worked in Reno, Nevada for KCRL-TV.
He, however, began his broadcasting career as an investigative intern at WBBM-TV situated in Chicago and he did much of the work for 1984 expose of Cook County Hospital. The expose won an Illinois Associated Press Award for investigative journalism. Bruce has also worked as a correspondent for WISC-TV located in Madison, Wisconsin.
