Alex McLeod is an American TV host and entertainment news correspondent famously known for hosting TLC’s hit show, Trading Spaces. She was born on December 21st, 1968.
She was born and raised in Galveston, Texas. Her dad was a politician and a real estate developer while her mother was a teacher. She spent most of her time as a child with the campaign trail for her father. She attended the prestigious Kinkaid High School in Houston. She started as a comedic actress and became famous after hosting the first 40 episodes of the reality-based home improvement series that launched the makeover show phenomenon.
She then went to study at The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a degree in Communications. She was an intern at KPRC-NBC in Houston while she was studying. She began her acting career at UCLA where she studied acting and film history.

She began her career in Hollywood where she was performing in national commercial spots and sitcoms, Married….with Children, Nightstand and Partners. Her first real break came as the cheeky Hollywood correspondent of the irrelevant and popular film, Movie watch that was aired on Channel 4 in the UK.
She was a sidekick to British TV personality and Comedian, Johnny Vaughan for 2 years(1996-1998) for the show The Big Breakfast, Passport to Paradise. She was engaging in interviews, reporting movie news from Los Angeles and performing in comedy sketches.
In 2000, she was offered the host job for TLC’s show, Trading Spaces after the network’s executive watched her sketch, Will Model for Food. She signed up to host 40 episodes. She was nominated for Emmy awards after an outstanding show. She was in the category, Outstanding Special Class Series. She made a decision to leave the show in 2001.
After leaving, she performed in reality TV projects making a major move into network television with a role as a host for Fox’s first season of Joe Millionaire shot in Loire Valley, France. The show was successful with over 40 million viewers in the US.
She then became a co-host of A&E Network for the show, Best of Both Worlds alongside Phil Keoghan. She went to Hawaii and Hong Kong while shooting for the show. In 2003 she was a guest co-hos for a female talk show, The View on ABC Network. Her appearance was used in another episode of The View featuring Strong Women.
She co-hosted a morning show, Good Day Live by 20th Century Fox. She also was on the Sci-Fi channel as a correspondent for The Belzer Connection that was a show based on the book, UFO’s, JFK and Elvis. She has featured in publications such as Newsweek and Entertainment Weekly.
In 2008, she was a red carpet correspondent for the Tv Guide Network’s Hollywood 411 daily entertainment news show. In 2012, she hosted The Chocolate Tourist that was a TV pilot based on the food blog. It was shot in Brussels, Belgium. McLeod interviewed and assisted world-renowned Wittamer Master Patissiere and Chocolatier pastry chef, Michael Lewis-Anderson. Wittamer has a royal warrant from the Royal Court of Belgium.
